A company with a small footprint

How we reduce our environmental impact

All our duvets, pillows and other products are manufactured at a leased 6,000 m² factory in Skive, Denmark. Compared to the environmental footprint of our raw materials, the production process itself has a relatively low impact.

Our production uses electricity, limited amounts of water and no hazardous chemicals. This means that the majority of the environmental impact from production comes from electricity and heating, the transportation of raw materials and finished products, and waste generated at the factory.

Our ambition is to reduce impact across all of these parameters. That’s why we actively involve our employees, encouraging them to contribute ideas based on their hands‑on experience from day‑to‑day production.

Our electricity is already certified CO2‑neutral and sourced entirely from renewable energy. At the same time, our production is highly resource‑efficient, with 98.6% of raw materials ending up in finished products. We have also ensured that all packaging from our sub‑suppliers is recycled.

Three focus areas

  • Operating an energy‑efficient production powered exclusively by renewable energy
  • Minimising material waste across our production processes
  • Critically reviewing the environmental impact of transport and business travel, and making more responsible choices

Goals for 2024

  • 100% renewable energy and heating
  • All production waste to be recycled
  • Exclusive collaboration with the most environmentally responsible transport partners

Progress in 2022

  • Waste from Fossflakes production remained stable at 1.4%
  • We calculated the company’s CO₂ emissions for 2021 and 2022 (Scope 1 and 2)
  • Fossflakes established a transport policy for freight and employee travel with environmental considerations at its core
  • We reduced air freight to a single shipment
  • LED lighting replaced fluorescent lighting throughout the entire factory
