Darkness, peaceful surroundings, cool and clean air – all of these contribute to helping you fall asleep and sleep well throughout the night. But the most important factor is your pillow and duvet. Or more precisely: the filling. Fossflakes is an exceptional filling, designed to allow air to circulate so that you never wake up overheated or too cold – and can therefore sleep undisturbed throughout the night.

Think back for a moment – how often do you wake up because you are either cold, or so warm that you throw off the duvet and have to turn your pillow over? Now imagine having a duvet and pillow that ensure air circulates around you, so your body can automatically regulate its temperature whilst you enjoy a well-deserved night's sleep – right through until you wake the next morning.

Loose fibre filling

Fossflakes is a unique form of loose fibre filling that can be shaken up in the same way as down. The shaking motion reactivates the air content of the filling – that is, the duvet's and pillow's ability to insulate and provide stable support over extended periods of time.

The filling is made from polyethylene – a durable and breathable form of plastic with small pores on the surface through which air can pass. This means the body is also able to regulate its temperature well under a duvet with Fossflakes filling. In both our duvets and pillows, the filling consists of 70% patented Fossflakes flakes mixed with 30% polyester ball fibres.

When we say there is no filling quite like Fossflakes, we mean it. We have taken all the best properties of down and feathers and combined them with the advantages of a fibre-inspired product. That is – in our opinion – the recipe for the perfect filling. Entirely unique, and your shortcut to a good night's sleep.

The Fossflakes flakes are constructed with an arc that mirrors the natural shape of down and feathers. The arc helps to create a natural cavity that traps air and increases insulating capacity. The air pockets in the design allow air to circulate around your neck and head, ensuring you never overheat.

Wonderful volume that lasts

Volume and loft are also essential qualities in both pillows and duvets. A pillow must support your sleeping position throughout the night without flattening, and it is well established that you sleep better when your body can actually feel the duvet around it.

Thorough product development has helped to ensure that Fossflakes duvets are light and yet substantial at the same time, whilst all our pillows are able to retain their resilient feel for longer than both down pillows and other fibre pillows.

Just as with temperature regulation, it is the Fossflakes flakes' ability to retain air that ensures stable support and weight throughout the night. Even with frequent use and washing, our pillows and duvets will maintain their volume – you simply need to give them a good shake regularly. Results from the Japanese testing institute Boken show that our pillows can be washed 50 times without becoming flat and lifeless.
