Can you wash outdoor cushions?

Yes. You can easily wash your outdoor cushions in the washing machine. We recommend washing the inner cushion and cover for the outdoor cushion at max. 40°C.
Avoid using fabric softeners and detergents with enzymes to wash Fossflakes products, as they can impair the properties of the filling. The products do not tolerate high heat.
We therefore recommend air-drying the cushions and cover. If the cushions are not dirty but have lost their natural volume, we recommend shaking them to quickly and easily restore the filling’s properties.

Do your outdoor cushions fade in the sun?

No, our outdoor cushions will not fade in the sun. The cushion cover has a high colour fastness, as the thread used is dyed throughout. This makes the cushions less prone to sun damage and means they won’t lose their colour after prolonged exposure.

Is the outdoor cushion waterproof?

Our outdoor cushions are not waterproof, but they are water-repellent. What does water-repellent mean? The cover is made of a hydrophobic material that does not absorb moisture.
Water, stains, and dirt will therefore not penetrate the fabric, but simply lay on top and bounce off.

Does your outdoor cushion get dirty easily?

No. The outdoor cushion is water- and dirt-repellent. This means that your outdoor cushions won’t amass dirt and will hold up well in the sun and the rain.

Should I bring my outdoor cushions inside when it rains?

No, there’s no need to bring your Fossflakes Outdoor Cushions inside when it rains. Outdoor cushions are designed to withstand the changeable summer weather, so you don’t have to worry about rain or sun damaging your cushions.

Our patented loose fiber filling is of a quality and shape you won't find anywhere else, which is why Fossflakes offers a unique combination of properties.

The filling is primarily made of polyethylene – a durable and breathable form of plastic with small pores in the surface that allow air to pass through. That’s why the body can regulate its temperature under a duvet with Fossflakes filling.
The filling of both our duvets and pillows consists of 70% patented Fossflakes flakes mixed with 30% polyester fiber balls.

The arch construction of the flakes doesn’t just help ensure good air circulation – the design is also key to the Fossflakes products’ ability to provide stable and ergonomically correct support over time.
This applies to both our regular pillows and our support pillows. This is because the curved shape is incredibly stable, ensuring that the pillows retain their plumpness and firmness longer before going flat – and if they do, it’s easy to shake them back into a plump and supportive shape.

Maintaining the excellent properties of Fossflakes products is easy. Simply give your Fossflakes products a shake to maintain plumpness.

Washing instructions: Machine wash at max. 60°C. Avoid using fabric softeners and detergents with enzymes when washing Fossflakes pillows and duvets, as they can impair the properties of the filling.

Drying instructions: Your Fossflakes products can be air-dried or tumble dried on a low heat (e.g. a wool or silk programme). They cannot withstand high heat.
Remove products as soon as the machine’s drying cycle is complete. If you are unsure whether your machine can dry on low heat, let your pillow and duvet air-dry instead.
The filling is evenly distributed and will not clump even after frequent washing.
